Speedy recovery to BGB! That’s a hell of a bruise to have.
And I always wondered why my knees hurt. Now I know - not from running, but being a Capricorn ♑️ Very interesting read about this weird little man that graces so many psych textbooks!
The little guy does appear in lots of places, and I think it isn't just because he's scientifically important (or correct). I thought a lot about you as I was doing this post, since it touches on science and art as well as human yearnings for connectedness with our surroundings. It's funny that so many find it difficult to make those connections, but I guess a lot of effort in human history has gone into protecting ourselves from being inconvenienced (or, say, killed) by forces external to us.
She will get back, or we will perish in recovery. BGB is not one who sits easily for very long, but the trouble with feeling age creep up is that sometimes you just have to sit and recover or grin and bear it. On other matters: chicken laid ten eggs yesterday. I'd give you a dozen or two if your place was just down the road.
Well, I think patience will be the name of the game for a little while, then!
Well done to your girls - spring must have sprung! Dad's just ordered some point-of-lay hens which will be moving in at Easter - he's looking forward to the new crowd after having said goodbye to the last of his 'old' girls during the course of 2022. 🐔
She'll recover in a couple weeks, at least enough to tootle around a bit more easily. Right now we just want to make sure that swelling doesn't choke off circulation, so life is ... boring. The story will certainly be full of mud and gush. We've had a good amount of rain so the soil is soft, which I think helped in her fall. When she got stepped on, the soft soil allowed for a bit of a buffer. Had the ground been hard, I think she'd be wearing a cast instead of decorating her calf with ice bags!

Fascinating post! Sorry to hear about the accident - hope BGB makes the swift recovery she deserves, and gets back in the saddle soon.

Get well BGB and I hope you have a good story to tell about the fall
