So sorry to hear about Omar, Mark. What a sweet face. I’m glad you made out well during Ophelia, minus a day in the dark. As always, enjoy reading about the world of HPDE. That shirt is all kinds of amazing.
I've been toying with the idea of doing another HPDE. The E30 is gone, but it's been replaced with an old (and faster) Acura Integra, similarly stripped and transformed. My thinking about racing has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years. It is a carbon-reckless sport, and that troubles me. The exchange of adrenaline and climate makes less and less sense.
I've been eyeing the fallen trees. They're pine, so less useful as firewood, but I might turn them into wood for winter. I haven't looked at the wood yet; it might be on its way to compost already.
Good old Omar. We humans are strange creatures in many ways. We become attached to animals. So attached. There is a cross-species connection that's mysterious, maybe unreasonable, and wondrous.
Thanks, Anu. He was a good little cat, and we didn't have him long. A couple years. He was a rescue, probably a stray who got caught by the kitten cops. A loving and remarkably playful cat for a good part of his short life. It's always hard to decide when time comes, but I think we did the right thing. At the end, he was not happy and his chances for recovery were slim-to-none.
